For woodworking you can come to our Paul Krugerstraat location. There you will find workbenches, hand tools and machines for cutting, sanding, routing, fitting and building. We keep things small-scale and safe: a lot is possible independently after a short explanation, and heavier or higher-risk machines are used together or under guidance.
Tip: do you want to do a larger job or make sure a specific machine is available? Make an appointment. For smaller things you can often drop in at Paul Krugerstraat when the welcome sign is on, but calling ahead is wise if you are coming from further away or bringing a lot of items.
We have a practical woodworking setup with several machines for shaping and finishing. Think sawing, sanding and routing, plus tools for joinery and precise fitting. We also have:
Which machine fits best depends on your material, dimensions and goal (quick rough work versus fine and precise). If you are unsure, we are happy to think along.
We also have a lot of power hand tools, such as:
The same applies here: use after instruction, and for some tools preferably with supervision. That keeps things safe and helps prevent damage to tools and workpieces.
In addition to machines, we have a lot of hand tools for woodworking, including:
For sharpening and maintaining edges we have a Tormek sharpening system. We also have specialised tools such as a Joint Maker Pro and other tools from Bridge City Toolworks, Veritas, Lee Nielsen and Blue Spruce Toolworks.
Please note: our finer woodworking tools are not freely available on the Paul Krugerstraat floor. If you need them, just ask, so we can take them out together and use them safely.
You usually bring your own wood and project-specific materials. We often have small items and common consumables in stock, such as drill bits and sandpaper. If you need something specific (for example a particular wood species, a specific router bit, or a certain grit/size), bring it yourself or let us know in advance.
Want to build something bigger, do fine woodworking, or be sure there is space and guidance? Plan a moment and briefly describe what you want to make and which operations you expect (cutting, routing, turning, fine fitting).
Prefer learning first with guidance? Check the woodworking workshop and pick a moment that suits you.
Guideline prices per half-day and what is usually included. Pay-what-you-can options.
