We deliberately keep The Owl’s Nest clear and manageable. That helps people focus and make progress, and it helps us stay safe around machines and more complex jobs. That is why we combine drop-in access (for coffee, getting acquainted, and something small) with half-day appointments (for larger projects, guidance, or when you want to be sure there is space).
Want to plan a moment? Go to Make an appointment. For guideline prices and what is included, see Pricing.
Drop-in access is mainly meant for stopping by for coffee or tea, catching up, getting acquainted, doing something small, or discussing a plan. At Paul Krugerstraat you can recognise this by the welcome sign at the door; calling ahead can be helpful if you want to be sure these is time and space for your project.
By appointment is best when:
On Locations you will find an overview of our places and what to expect at each one.
We often work in half-day blocks (morning, afternoon, or evening). That gives you enough time to actually get something done, and it avoids the situation where you are just getting started when someone else has to stop. During the half-day we look together at what your project needs: just a table and hand tools, or also machines and guidance.
If you need multiple half-days, we agree that in advance. That keeps things predictable for you and plannable for us.
Making an appointment is quicker if you can briefly tell us:
Do you have a photo, sketch, or short description of the issue? Feel free to send it along. It saves time at the start of your half-day.
You work on your own plan here. Sometimes you are mostly independent and we are available if you get stuck. For other tasks we stay with you more closely, especially when machines, heat, sparks, or electrical risks are involved.
We roughly use three levels:
If something is new to you, that is not a problem. We build it up calmly and choose an approach that fits your pace.
We focus on individual projects, small batches, repairs, and hands-on experiments. The workshop is not meant for large-scale production or noisy assembly-line work. If something needs a lot of space, creates a lot of noise, or requires long-running setups, we align in advance if and how it can be done, without making things unsafe or unworkable for others.
Are you working with a participant, student, or client on behalf of an organisation, institution, or employer in our workshop? In most cases that falls under a trajectory or collaboration. See For professionals or contact us to discuss what fits.
Book a half-day and briefly tell us what you want to do. We will align on what you need and what is feasible.
See the guideline price per half-day and what is included. Pay-what-you-can options.
