Workshops

Sometimes it’s simply nice when someone is literally next to you while you learn something new. Someone who calmly shows you how to hold a saw, make a solder joint, or cut a clean line in glass; and then lets you practice yourself. That’s what The Owl’s Nest workshops are for: low-threshold, practical sessions of about four hours, in small groups or one-on-one, where you mainly learn by doing.

We organize workshops around different themes, such as mosaic, stained glass, drawing, basic electricity, soldering, or woodworking. Sometimes because one person signs up with a specific learning question, sometimes for a group of friends, a team, or a company, and sometimes because multiple people are interested in the same topic at the same time. No experience is needed. Curiosity is.

What does a workshop look like?

A workshop at The Owl’s Nest:

We keep the atmosphere calm and informal. If something doesn’t work the first time, we simply try again. It’s not about perfect results. It’s about understanding what you’re doing, and getting more skilled step by step.

Who are the workshops for?

Our workshops are meant for people who:

Do you notice you get overstimulated quickly, or do you find it stressful to work in a group? Let us know. We can take the group size, pace, and setup into account. Sometimes a small group or a one-on-one workshop is simply a better fit.

What topics are available?

We have a number of recurring themes we build workshops around. Think working with glass, mosaic, drawing and design, basic electricity, soldering, and woodworking. In the overview below you can see what we currently offer and what you can roughly expect.

Do you see a workshop that appeals to you, or do you have your own idea you’d like to build a workshop around; for example for a group of friends, a team, or an organization? Feel free to contact us. We’re happy to think along about content and planning.

No fixed schedule; we plan on request

We don’t work with a standard weekly workshop schedule. Instead, we plan workshops based on sign-ups and interest. Sometimes it’s one person, sometimes a whole group, and sometimes we bundle multiple individual sign-ups into one session.

In practice that means we look at:

Want to plan a workshop? Send us a message via Make an appointment with your wishes, the number of people, and a few possible dates. We’ll respond with a proposal and figure out together what fits.

Pricing

For our regular workshops we use a fixed rate of € 50.00 per person per workshop. This includes:

For groups (for example a team outing, a group of friends, or a group from an organization) we create a custom program and price proposal, depending on the number of participants and the topic. If it’s a program commissioned by an institution or organization, you’ll find more information on For professionals.

Workshop, or rent space?

Not sure if you should take a workshop or simply rent workspace? A workshop fits when you really want to learn a technique with guidance and a clear program. Renting space fits better if you already have your own project and mainly need a place, tools, and someone to spar with every now and then. On the Rent workspace page you can read more about the options.

Still not completely sure? Feel free to contact us. We’ll think along with you about which format fits you and your plan best.
