Stained glass workshop

Stained glass workshop

In this workshop you get introduced to the classic stained glass technique. You learn step by step how glass panels are built: from cutting glass to setting it in lead came and finishing with putty or sealant. We work at a calm pace, so you get to know the materials and understand what happens in each step. In this workshop we work with classic lead profiles, not with copper foil (the Tiffany technique).

What we’re going to do

We start with a short explanation of tools, types of glass, and safety. Then you choose a small design — for example a simple geometric motif or a small window panel — and you get to work yourself. You learn:

During the workshop there is time for questions and explanation. We work with attention: safety comes first, but so do calm focus and concentration. The clink of glass and the sound of the soldering iron are part of it, but the main thing is the practical skill and insight you build up.

Who is the stained glass workshop for?

This workshop is for anyone who:

No glass experience is needed. If you have worked with glass before, we adapt the level and the exercise so you can go deeper into design, color, or detail. Same principle here: it doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s about understanding, technique, and enjoying the process.

Structure and atmosphere

The stained glass workshop lasts about four hours. You can choose a small group or an individual session. We keep it clear and we take the time for each step. If you get overstimulated quickly or prefer to work in silence, we’re happy to take that into account — just mention it when you sign up.

For individual participants who want to go deeper, we can plan separate follow-up appointments. In those follow-up moments you can work on larger or more complex projects, for example:

For projects like this it’s normal to work across multiple half-days and for the trajectory to take a few weeks. For each project we agree on roughly how much time and material is needed, and we plan the moments together.

If you prefer working with copper foil (Tiffany) instead of lead came, also see our Tiffany workshop. If you’re specifically interested in painting and firing on glass, our kiln fired glass painting workshop is the better fit.

Practical information and costs

This workshop follows our regular workshop format and rate. That means:

For this workshop we use the same fixed rate as for our other workshops: € 50.00 per person per workshop. If you’re coming with a group (for example friends, colleagues, or a family), we’ll create a custom program and price proposal in consultation.

Plan a workshop or want to know more?

We don’t work with a fixed schedule; we plan stained glass workshops based on sign-ups. Want to join or register a group? Send us a message via Make an appointment with:

We respond with a proposal and look together at what is doable. Not sure whether this workshop fits you? Put your questions in your message. We’re happy to think along.
