A contribution does not have to consist of materials or money. Time, experience, specialist knowledge, curiosity or simply an extra pair of hands can be exactly what is needed at a particular moment. This may involve a one-off job, helping with an activity, sharing knowledge or a longer-term involvement.
Not every contribution requires specialist knowledge. Sometimes experience matters, sometimes practical skills, and sometimes what matters most is a willingness to think along, investigate something or tackle something together. A request identifies a specific need for time, knowledge or practical help. A campaign can bring such contributions together over a longer period or around a broader activity or purpose.
What is appropriate differs by activity, operator and location. A request describes as clearly as possible what is needed, what knowledge or practical help may be useful and the context in which the contribution takes place. A campaign may involve broader participation or contributions needed at different moments over a longer period. This allows you to decide what fits what you can and would like to do.
