The Owl’s Nest – Paul Krugerstraat is a shared ground-floor workshop in Haarlem-Noord. The location combines drop-in with planned workshop sessions. When the welcome sign is lit, you can come in for coffee or tea, to get acquainted, discuss something, or take a small practical step.
For longer project work, use of specific equipment, or activities that require space, guidance, or preparation, we coordinate a suitable time in advance. This keeps the workshop usable for different people and projects without allowing one activity to define the location as a whole. Paul Krugerstraat is a physical workshop where workbenches, tools, machines, and ongoing projects come together. The space is intended for actually making, repairing, practising, and looking at practical questions together. Its layout can change with the work taking place at the time.
The workshop layout can be adapted to what is happening that day. We can clear workbenches, create additional space, and prepare equipment or materials in advance.
When the welcome sign is lit, you can drop in without an appointment. Drop-in works well for coffee or tea, getting acquainted, a short question, showing us something, discussing a plan, or taking a small practical step that does not require extensive preparation.
If you want to work on a project for longer, need specific equipment, or expect guidance, coordinating in advance is usually more practical. We can then take account of the available space, ongoing projects, and what your work requires. Make an appointment.
The workshop has several work areas and a basic range of hand tools and machines. Workpieces, temporary setups, and the use of larger equipment affect how much space is available at a particular moment. Practical capacity therefore depends not only on the number of people present, but also on what is being done.
For work that requires more space, preparation, or coordination, we look in advance at how the workshop can best be arranged. The same applies when several activities take place at the same time.
In a shared physical workshop, noise, dust, machines, materials, and movement through the space affect one another. We therefore coordinate when an activity needs more attention or space and take account of each other’s concentration and safety.
General arrangements for working rhythm, use of tools, and working together are described under Use the workshop. For work that requires preparation, we coordinate in advance what is practically possible at that time.
The workshop is on the ground floor. In the standard layout there is not enough turning space for a wheelchair everywhere. If you let us know in advance that you are coming with a wheelchair or walker, we can, where possible, rearrange work areas and walkways so the space remains practical and safe to use.
