Mosaic workshop

In the mosaic workshop at The Owl’s Nest you work at a calm pace with color, shape, and material. Not a rushed creative session, but a few hours of focused work on something that is entirely yours. You learn the basics of mosaic while you build your own piece step by step.

What we’re going to do

We start with a short explanation of what mosaic is, which materials we use, and how to set up a simple design. Then you pick a base (for example a small panel, coasters, or another suitable surface) and get to work with tiles and/or glass. You learn:

• how to translate an idea into a mosaic pattern;
• how to cut or nip tiles safely;
• how to place pieces so the whole looks calm and balanced;
• how to use adhesive and grout for a solid end result.

You don’t have to be an artist, and you don’t need to “have a sense for color”. We help you make choices and think along when you get stuck. It’s not about everything being perfect. It’s about understanding what you’re doing, and building something with pleasure.

Who is the mosaic workshop for?

This workshop is suitable for anyone who:

• wants to be creative in a calm way;
• likes working with their hands, but doesn’t quite know where to start;
• enjoys taking a concrete finished piece home;
• wants to work one-on-one or in a small group, with time for questions and explanation.

You can bring your own idea or sketch, but you don’t have to. Do you have an object you’d like to decorate with mosaic (for example a tray or a small board)? Let us know, and we’ll see if it’s suitable for this workshop.

Structure and atmosphere

The workshop lasts about four hours and takes place either in a small group or individually. We keep the atmosphere calm and easy to follow. We show you how to use the tools, walk around to answer questions, and let you work at your own pace. If you get overstimulated quickly or feel anxious working in a group, we can take that into account. Just mention it when you sign up.

Practical information and costs

The mosaic workshop follows our regular workshop format and rate. That means:

• about four hours of workshop time in a small group or individually;
• use of tools and basic materials (tiles, adhesive, grout, and a suitable base);
• coffee or tea and something small on the side;
• your own piece to take home afterwards.

For this workshop we use the same fixed rate as for our other workshops: € 50.00 per person per workshop. If you’re coming with a group (for example friends, colleagues, or a family), we’ll put together a custom program and price proposal in consultation.
