Who is The Owl’s Nest for?

The Owl’s Nest is a community workshop with multiple locations in Haarlem North: low-threshold, small-scale and practical. You can drop in for coffee and a calm place to be, you can make or repair something, you can learn a craft, or you can rebuild rhythm step by step. And if you like contributing to the workshop, volunteering is a great entry point.

We work without memberships or punch cards. At our Paul Krugerstraat location you can drop in when the welcome sign is on. If you would rather be sure there is time and space, you can make an appointment. For Spaarndamseweg, an appointment is always required (because the central doors must remain closed). Our office of the supporting foundation on Tugelastraat is also open to visitors; feel free to ring the bell. Are you a professional and want to coordinate? Then go to For professionals.

Choose what fits you

For local residents

Get out of the house for a bit, be around people in a calm way, or pick up something small. Dropping in is fine. It stays small-scale and focused on doing, without fuss.

Making and repairing

Work on your own project with benches, tools and guidance. Wood, metal, welding, electronics, 3D printing and design; car DIY by appointment.

Arts and crafts

Make something beautiful with attention. Drawing and craft workshops such as stained glass, Tiffany, glass painting, mosaic and woodworking.

Rest and recovery

A low-stimulus stepping stone to land calmly, rebuild rhythm, and regain trust in what you can handle. Small steps, clarity, no performance pressure.

Volunteers

Contribute in a meaningful way in the neighbourhood. From drop-in welcome to workshops, maintenance and outreach. Technical knowledge is a bonus, not a requirement.

For professionals

For coaches, therapists, job coaches, teachers and organisations. Read how we connect with trajectories and how we coordinate in a practical way.

The Owl’s Nest, in short

The Owl’s Nest is a community workshop. A place where you can walk in, have a coffee, and do something with your hands in a calm way. Sometimes that is a workshop. Sometimes a small project. Sometimes simply being present and finding rhythm again. You don’t need to become a member and you don’t need a big plan.

What you’ll find here is a mix of activities: making and repairing, arts and crafts, practical technique and explanation, and a coffee corner where you can land for a moment. We work small-scale, so it stays clear and there is room to take a look with you or explain something.

What this is not

We are not a creative hub or business incubator that rents out units or studios on monthly contracts. And we are not a commercial workshop where you “drop something off to get it done”. You come here to work yourself, to learn, or to build something up step by step, with guidance where that helps.
