Who is The Owl’s Nest for?

The Owl’s Nest is for people who want to do something with their hands, learn something new, rebuild a daily rhythm or simply be around other people in a calm environment. In practice, that means you will find a mix of local residents, students, people in recovery or reintegration and volunteers who enjoy sharing their knowledge.

You do not need to have a clear plan or major question before you can come to us. Some people arrive with a concrete project or a referral from a coach, others start with “I do not quite know what I am looking for, but I want to start doing something again”. Together we look at what form suits you and what is realistic for you right now.

If you want to make or learn something

Maybe you have always wanted to learn how to solder, work with wood or use 3D printers, but at home you lack the space, the tools or someone who can look over your shoulder. At The Owl’s Nest you can get to know different kinds of technology and making step by step, without first having to follow a full course. Making mistakes is part of the process; we start from what you can already do and build on that slowly.

You can join a workshop, take part in an ongoing project or sit down with us to see how your own idea could take shape. If you find it daunting to start in a group, a calm introductory talk or first individual appointment is often a good starting point.

If you have dropped out of work or education

If you have had to stop working or studying, it can feel as if everything has come to a halt. Your head is full, but at the same time you miss structure and colleagues or classmates. At The Owl’s Nest you can, at your own pace, get used again to going somewhere, taking on small tasks and noticing that you can complete something. Without production pressure, without performance indicators and without judgement if something does not work out.

Where possible we connect to the support you already have, for example through a coach, therapist or reintegration organisation. Together with you (and, if relevant, your counsellor) we look at which activities fit your current capacity and interests: from simple practical jobs to longer projects in which you gradually take on more responsibility.
