Hand tools and workbenches

For many projects you do not need big machines, but you do need a good workspace and solid hand tools. At The Owl’s Nest you can work at a bench with a broad basic tool set within reach. It is ideal for small repairs, assembly work, study projects, prototypes, and jobs you would rather not do on the kitchen table.

What can you do with this?

Hand tools are suitable for a wide range of tasks, such as:

• assembly and disassembly;
• fitting, measuring, marking out, and aligning;
• small repairs to devices, parts, and furniture;
• deburring, sanding, and small finishing work;
• building and testing simple setups or prototypes.

Drop in or plan ahead

For small jobs you can often drop in at Paul Krugerstraat when the welcome sign is on. There is usually space, but if you are coming from further away or bringing a lot of items, calling ahead is a good idea. For bigger jobs, longer projects, or if you want to be sure there is room, it is better to make an appointment.

Bring your project

Coming in for a repair or an assembly job? If possible, bring:

• the device or part itself, complete with the adapters/cables that belong to it;
• photos or notes about what goes wrong and when;
• parts you have already ordered or plan to use.
